about the founder
Double A Coaching is founded by Andrea Alvarez, a former competitive dancer and collegiate dance team member, whose lived experience in the dance world shapes every aspect of her work as a teacher, choreographer, and mental performance coach. Andrea grew up immersed in competitive dance and went on to perform at the collegiate and international levels, where she experienced firsthand the pressure, expectations, and mental demands that come with high-level performance. As a student-athlete and performer, she was introduced to mental performance coaching late in her dance career, where she discovered the positive impact it has on performance, but also the lack of access to these resources.
That realization became the foundation of her passion for mental performance coaching. With a master’s degree in Sport Psychology and professional experience coaching Division I teams, U.S. National Dance Team athletes, youth performers, and military populations, Andrea brings a rare blend of performance psychology, real-world performance experience, and deep understanding of dance culture to her work. Through Double A Coaching, she supports dancers, athletes, performers, and coaches using sport psychology–based methods and provides comprehensive dance services designed to enhance performance and growth. Every service is grounded in evidence-based psychology, empathy for the performer experience, and a personalized, relationship-driven approach designed to help clients not only perform better, but enjoy the process more.
