Confidentiality
Confidentiality, Ethics, & Professional Standards
Confidentiality is a core value of Double A Coaching's mental performance practice and a critical component of effective performance consulting. Double A Coaching is committed to creating a professional, ethical, and psychologically safe environment in which clients can develop performance skills with trust and confidence.
All services are delivered in alignment with the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP) Code of Ethics and APA Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct. Mental performance consulting is educational and performance-focused in nature and does not constitute psychotherapy, counseling, or clinical mental health treatment.
Information shared during sessions is kept confidential and will not be disclosed without written consent, except in circumstances required by law or professional ethics, including but not limited to:
- Risk of serious harm to self or others
- Suspected abuse or neglect of a minor, elder, or dependent adult
- Court order or other legal mandate
When working with minors, confidentiality is handled with developmentally appropriate care. Parents or guardians may receive general information regarding progress; however, session-specific content remains confidential unless safety concerns or legal obligations require disclosure.
When working with teams or organizations, individual disclosures from athletes remain confidential. Coaches and administrators may receive feedback regarding team-level themes, performance trends, or educational outcomes without identifying individual athletes, unless explicit consent is provided.
Clients are encouraged to ask questions about confidentiality, boundaries, and professional roles at any point. Informed consent is an ongoing process, and transparency is prioritized throughout the consulting relationship.
